3rd Grade Visits the Blanton Art Museum

Thanks to a University of Texas grant all of our 3rd grade students got the opportunity to go and visit the Blanton Art Museum.  This turned out to be one of the most educational and enjoyable field trips I have ever been a part of.  The students were lead through the museum by very well trained and educated docents that helped build on the theme that a picture is worth 1,000 words.  By doing some pre-teaching students were able to have deep discussions about artists' purpose, symbolism, medium, and make historical connections.  We followed our visit with a large group lesson helping students to see the connections between all subject areas and the world of art.  It is our intention to make this an annual event for all 3rd grade students here at Faubion.
