Summer of Inspiration

The summer of 2013 was filled with many adventures and travel.  Below are some of the highlights of the things I was able to capture with my camera.  I always find myself connecting my travels to all aspects of my life including what I do in my classroom with my students.

Classroom set up

This year's classroom set up is a little different in that I made more table space are for projects and storage.  I also moved my desk and computer closer to the window to take advantage of the limited natural light my window affords.  Using my learning target system from last year helps keep me organized and the students are aware of what is going on and what is expected of them.  One of the biggest challenges is making sure I stay organized so that my room can be a functioning part of my program.

First Day of School

The first day of school is always filled with such a range of emotions.  Fear, excitement, wonder, sadness, hope, joy. Today my daughter started her journey as a student, all be it in a pre school setting it is school non the less.  The fact that she woke up at 3am wanting to get up and go to school tells me she understands the importance, value, and excitement that comes with learning, being a part of a community, and gaining understanding of the world around you.  As the students walk in to my class today I pray that their eyes, minds, and hearts be open to all that this world has to offer.  I hope and pray that I can meet the needs of all that cross my threshold to support, inspire, and value all that is good in the world.  Let this year be amazing.

What is Keep it Vizual

The purpose of this blog is for me to have an avenue to share important aspects of my life that in some way relate or revolve around creativity.  My biggest focus will be sharing the art work from my students and explaining the process and ideas that relate.  Please enjoy.
